Ronaldo de Assis Moreira, commonly known as Ronaldinho Gaúcho, was born on 21/03/1980 in Rio Grande do Sul. Ronaldinho came from a poor family and always has been involved with soccer, Ronaldinho’s father and his brother Assis were professional soccer players. When he was 7, he already showed talent for soccer, joining Grêmio FBPA in Porto Alegre.

Having been born in the 80s, he saw incredible players like Zico, Maradona and Platini, who certainly influenced the player. At 9, Ronaldinho’s father died and Roberto de Assis, his older brother, was a father figure for him and became his businessman

Ronaldinho’s first professional appearance was in 1998 against Vasco da Gama, and he also participated in the Copa Libertadores, where it was evident that he had many skills in soccer. He was called up for the Brazilian team in 1999 by Vanderlei Luxemburgo and achieved great visibility.

The Brazilian stars when they were playing well, they were going to play in Europe, with Ronaldinho it wasn’t different, in 2001 he decided with his family that he would go to Paris Saint-German (PSG). However, he was involved in a legal fight, left Grêmio without regularizing your situation and had to wait a few months to play.

A memorable performance was against Real Madrid at Santiago Bernabéu, where the player scored 2 goals and received applause by the opposing fans.

In 2006, Ronaldinho was expected to be a six-time champion for Brazil in FIFA World CuP, because most of the main soccer legends were part of his team. However, Brazil lost to France in the quarterfinals by 1 to 0. In the same year, they played in the FIFA Club World Cup for Barcelona, but lost it to SC Internacional.

In 2007–08 the player went through a series of injuries that harmed his performance and after recovering, he decided to play in Italy for Milan.

At Milan, Ronaldinho had the opportunity to play side by side with Kaká and Seedorf. He stopped being an attacking midfielder and started to have a more offensive function(as a forward, like Lewandoski is to Bayern or winger, like CR7 on Real Madrid) . In 2009, Ronaldinho was chosen as player of the decade by the English magazine World Soccer.

In 2011, Ronaldinho returned to Brazil to play for Flamengo, signed a 4-yr contract, but played only a year and a half, after payment delays, he decided to leave. For Flamengo, the player won Taça Guanabara and Campeonato Carioca in 2011.

Leaving Flamengo, the player was hired by Atlético Mineiro where he played until 2014. During this period Ronaldinho received many national awards for his performance for Galo and won the Copa Libertadores and got the 3rd place in the FIFA Club World Cup

He had a small time in Mexico, where he played for Querétano in 2014–15. He also played for Fluminense in 2015–16 until he retired at the age of 36. Despite the controversies, it is a consensus among brazilians that Ronaldinho was one of the best players the country has ever had. He was honored in Comics by Maurício de Souza and Topolino.

Ronaldinho is currently an ambassador for FC Barcelona and some brands. And have his own business. In March 2020, he and his brother, Roberto de Assis, were arrested in Paraguay for being caught up with fake paraguayan passports and documents. In April, the two were held in house arrest and were prohibited from leaving Paraguay. In August, Ronaldinho returned to Rio de Janeiro after paying a bill for the damages caused. However, the ex-player became champion in the prison futsal tournament, earning a piglet.

Other points that mark the player’s personal life are: he has a son, named João, with 15 years old. He was involved in a controversy with a Mexican politician, who called him “monkey” on the player’s social media . Ronaldinho replied: “That’s Enough! We’re all tired of this. It is a subject that hurts, that goes beyond skin color or nationality. I hope this will be over soon.” Ronaldinho has recorded songs with famous artists (like Wesley Safadão), has acted in many ads on TV and even a movie. Remembering that he is considered on the internet as the “King of the random gathering”, being the target of social media memes.
